SECTION 100 - MARKET GOATS
1. Animal must be born after January 1 of the year in which they
will be shown.
2. Animal must be owned by the exhibitor and in their possession
by May 1 of the show year.

Market Goats must be tagged,
weighed and identified at
the beginning of the project year, at the Fairgrounds, by
the Goat Superintendents to be eligible to sell in the Small
Animal Sale; all Market Goats must sell in the sale. Goat
tagging is always the 2nd Saturday in May from 10:00 am
- 12:00 noon at the Dog Barn. NO EXCEPTIONS.
4. Exhibitors may show and sell only one market goat (a 2nd
backup goat may be tagged).
5. Dairy and Boer goats must weigh at least 50 lbs. and no more
than 100 lbs. at the final weigh-in the first day of the fair.
6. Pygmy and Nigerian Dwarf goats must weigh at least 25 lbs. and
not more than 50 lbs. at the final weigh-in the first day of the fair.
7. Goats under minimum weight may not show in the market
class but may show in showmanship, if entered. Underweight
goats may not sell in the auction. Market goats over maximum
weight may show in the market class but cannot be Champion
orReserve.Overweight goatsmay sell at auctionat thespecified
maximum (not actual) weight. All animals must be exhibited in
a market class to be eligible to sell.
8. Animal will be judged on meat quality.
9. Only one market goat entry per exhibit.
