Waterfowl exhibitors are responsible to read and abide by
the rules at the beginning of the Poultry section.
RULES
1. All birds must be banded and band numbers recorded with the
superintendent.
2. All birds must be purebreds and will be judged according to the
“Standard of Perfection of the American Poultry Association.”
3. Any domesticated wild birds must be accompanied by a valid
possession or breeder’s permit issued by the Department of
Natural Resources of the State of MI.
4. Young birds are defined as this calendar year’s hatch; Old
birds are any hatched previous to this calendar year.
EACH EXHIBITOR MAY ENTER ONE ENTRY PER CLASS
AND 4 ENTRIES PER SECTION.
**Note : Any class in this department with an * in front of it requires
a class fee of $1.00. Please enclose the total with your entry form.

SECTION 900 — MARKET FOWL (FOR SMALL ANIMAL AUCTION)
Auction: Saturday, August 11 at Noon
Premiums: There are no premiums for market classes.
1. Market chickens will be classified by weight division on check in day.
Birds must weigh between 4 and 12.5 lbs. and are not to over 15
weeks of age. Cornish Game Birds must weigh 3-4 pounds per bird
and be 6 weeks of age or under.
2. Market birds must be
meat type birds only
(any type Cornish Cross
such as: Cornish Bantress, Cornish Rock, Cornish Hubbard Cross, Dark
Cornish, CornishGame Birds, etc.) - no dual purpose (egg/meat) breeds.
3. Each exhibitor may enter ONLY 1 pen of market chickens, ONLY 1
pen of market ducks, ONLY 1 market turkey, ONLY 1 market goose,
ONLY1 pen of pigeons. Market class exhibitorsmay enter amaximum
of 3 market entries per FAIR RULE (YOUTH AND OPEN ANIMALS
GENERAL RULES #6 page 8).
4. Only one market turkey, a Hen or a Tom, may be shown - Not to be
over 6 months of age.
5.
All A and B Group animals are required to sell in the auction.
6. Market birds under the minimum weight must go home. Birds over
maximumweightmayshow inthemarketclassbutcannotbeChampion
or Reserve. Overweight birds may sell at the specified maximum (not
actual) weight.
7. All market animals must be owned by the exhibitor.
8. Purchase receipt formarket birds purchased froma hatchery, elevator,
TSC or Family, Farm and Home needs to be presented at check in to
eliminate the need for pullorum testing.
9. All birds must be clean (free of feces, mud, shavings, straw, etc.) at
check-in and before weigh-in or they will be sent home.
10. Market Poultry (chickens, ducks, turkeys, and geese) will be loaded
out Thursday night. Cages
must be
cleaned Friday morning
before
9am and picture is to be displayed nice and neat inside the cage.
