SECTION 90 — BEEF MARKET ANIMALS
EXHIBIT REGULATIONS
  1. BeefMarket animal exhibitors are responsible to readandabide
by the Youth Beef Cattle Exhibit Regulations (on this page) and
the rules on pages 6-11.
 2. Beef Market Animals may be either market heifers or steers.
Entries will all be shown in the Market Classes together; there
are no separate classes for heifers. Market heifers are subject to
all exhibit regulations. In addition, market heifers will be required
to be veterinary ceritified open (not pregnant) within 30 days of
the Fair. Proof must be presented at weigh-in fair week.
 3. All entriesmust have been in exhibitor's possession by January
15 of the current year, and be owned by the exhibitor.
 4. Exhibitors will be allowed to show and sell one market beef
animal, which can be either beef or dairy.
 5. All entries must have: 1) an official, plastic Shiawassee Co.
Fair ear tag, and 2) the mandatory Michigan RFID ear tag.
IMPORTANT -
Animals must be enrolled and tagged with the
official Shiawassee Co. Fair tag by the Beef Superintendents
(or authorized agents of the department) on the scheduled
dates (will be publicized) at the fairgrounds, to be set no later
than Feb. 15th of the show year. Each exhibitor may tag up
to 3 animals. Families may tag animals as family projects
with all children's names listed. Animals that have not been
enrolled (tagged) will not be eligible to show.
 6. No horns on market animals. All wounds from removal of horns
must be completely healed. 
7. No animal will be allowed to show in a market class with a
permanent nose ring.

MUST REMAIN IN PLACE AS POSTED IN BEEF BARN.
(See page 7 for release of exhibits rules.)
All livestock trailers left on the fairgrounds
must be parked in the designated area below the
hill, south of the livestock area.
BEEF CATTLE EXHIBIT REGULATIONS
 1. All exhibitors are required to read and abide by the Rules on
pages 6-11.
 2. All beef cattle (breeding cattle and market animals) are
required to have the official RFID ear tag.
3. No more than 2 entries by one exhibitor in any one class; for
double entries, write class (2) times on entry form.
4. A maximum of 7 breed class animals and one market animal
may be entered by any one exhibitor. Amarket beef heifer may
not enter in the breed classes.
5. Double registered animals may be entered in only one breed
section.
6. All Beef breeding cattle must show in an individual class to
show in the group classes.
7. Proper attire is required of all exhibitors (see General Rules).
No sandals, flip-flops, crocs, etc. will be allowed in the show
ring or the auction ring.
8. Exhibitors must know the actual date of birth of their breeding
animals.
9. All ShowmanshipandBredandOwned (fromownherd) animals
must be pre-entered to show.
10. Percentage cattle may also be entered in OPEN CLASS if
registered in their breed association.
11. All grooming chutes must be identified and located by club
in designated areas only, and will be included as part of the
herdsmanship scoring. If they are removed fron the grounds
before Saturday night at 11:00 p.m., it must be during morning
or evening chores and prior to Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m.
This also applies to blow dryers. Nothing else may be removed
from the barns until the official closing time Saturday night .

12. The designated area to unload all beef animals, for both the
safety of animals and people, is within the livestock show arena.
13. The addition of hair on the tailhead & legs, or a false switch,
will not be permitted.
14. No beef breeding animal is eligible to show unless the exhibitor
had the animal in his possession since May 1 of the current year.
15. No animal may be eligible for a premium unless born previous
to July, of the current year.
16. A beef breeding animal may only be showed by one exhibitor.
17. A breeding animal may only be entered/shown in one
designated breed.
NOTE: Any class in this department with an * in front of it requires
a class fee of $1.00. Please enclose the total with your entry form.
2019 TAGGING DATES ARE:
JANUARY 19 and JANUARY 26, 2019, to be
held in the Beef Barn at the Fairgrounds from
9:00 am - 1:00 pm each day
