13. All Showmanship and Bred and Owned class animals must be
pre-entered to show.
14. No more than six animals in breed classes and 1 market wether
may beexhibitedby oneexhibitor. (Total of nomore than7animals.)
15. All goatswill beshownunder observablebreed types, regardless
of grade, recorded grade, or registered.
16. All animals entered in the Best Bred and Owned classes (285,
390, and 755) must have a verification form (on page 13). It may
be given to the club leader or sent directly to the Fair Office,
where it must be on file to show in the Bred and Owned classes.
17. Best Bred and Owned entries: the dammust have been owned
by the exhibitor or the exhibitor's immediate family at the time
of breeding.
18. Set up of the goat barn pens is Thursday at 6:00 p.m. Contact
leaders for club decorating times.
19. Straw or sawdust used as bedding for all animals. Bedding
will be changed, by all exhibitors Wednesday night between
10:00 p.m. and 12:00 p.m., or Thursday morning before 8:30
a.m. All exhibitors may change the bedding for their animals
more often if they desire.
20. NO DOGS ALLOWED IN THE BARN.
21. There will be a barn meeting at 4:30 pm on Sunday, opening
night, for all exhibitors - all exhibitors are expected to attend.
22. Barnmeeting last day of fair with goat barn auction immediately
following. Time to be set at first meeting.
23. Proper attire is required of all exhibitors - seeGeneral Livestock
Rules. No sandals, flip-flops, crocs, etc. will be allowed in the
show ring or the auction ring.
24. Youth exhibitors who show an animal in a youth breeding and/
or market class will be eligible to enter showmanship for that
species. They must use the animal that they entered in the
breeding or market class (except Cloverbuds).
25. Goatsmay be exercised around theGoat Barn, but the exhibitor
must have permission from a goat Superintendent.
26. There is NO MANDATORY MILK OUT prior to show.
Milk out is left to the exhibitor’s discretion.
27. Exhibitors MUST provide the goat superintendents with
photocopies of either registration papers, scrapie premise
number or Owner Statement-Change of Ownership form
(whichever is applicable to the animal) upon check-in on
Sunday for EACH animal entered in the Shiawassee County Fair.
28. Bracing of goats is not permitted unless using ADGA, NPGA
and ABGA approved methods.

determined by the Youth Superintendents on the day of the show.

a class fee of $1.00. Please enclose the total with your entry form.

in Goat Barn. (See page 7 for release of exhibits rules.)
All livestock trailers left on the fairgrounds
must be parked in the designated area below the
hill, south of the livestock area.
all goat exhibitors must submit
a pen request form, found on page 13.
GOAT EXHIBIT REGULATIONS
 1. All exhibitors are required to read and abide by the Rules on
pages 6-11.
 2. Animals must be in the possession of the exhibitor by May 1
of the current year.
3. Health check will take place between 12:00 and 3:00 pm
Sunday. Each animal
MUST
be examined before entering
the barn.
 4. Entry/class check-in for YOUTH exhibitors will be Sunday
between 4:30 and 9:00 pm. Entry/class check-in for OPEN
class exhibitors will be from Sunday at 4:30 until Tuesday at
9:00 pm. Registration papers must be shown at that time for
the classes in which they are required.
 5. Animals that are not entered in the youth or open show will not
be allowed in the barn. Exception to this rule is kids under 8
weeks old that are nursing their dams.
 6. Dairy goats must be dehorned. Pygmy and Boer goats may
be horned or dehorned. Angoras must be horned. No bucks
allowed.
 7. Market Goats must be tagged, weighed and identified at
the beginning of the project year at the Fairgrounds by the
Goat Superintendents to be eligible to show in the Market
Class and sell in the Small Animal Auction. All Market
Goats must sell in the sale. Goat tagging is always the 2nd
Saturday in May from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon, at the Dog
Barn. ALL market goats must be tagged on this date. NO
EXCEPTIONS.
 8. Animals must be broke to lead and may be shown with a collar.
 9. Animals are to be penned.
10. All goats moved within Michigan shall be identified with official
USDA scrapie program identification prior to movement off the
farm. Contact the United States of Agriculture (USDA) at (517)
324-5290 for ear tags (if needed).
  *The USDA tag is
mandatory
for
all
unregistered goats and/or
market
goats. The scrapie tag no. may be tattoed in the ear,
flank, or tail web (if tattooed, the tag must be kept, the end of
the tag must be cut off so it can't be reused, and the tag must
accompany the goat when it is moved).
  *Goats may use electronic I.D. (microchips). Breed association
registration papersmust accompany the goat whenmoved and
a microchip reader must be available to read the chip.
  *Any (APHIS approved) registered goat may use the breed
association registry tattoo as ID in lieu of a scrapie tag number.
Registration papers must accompany the goat when it's moved.
  *Producers/owners (of all goats) are required toprovideascrapie
program Change of Ownership form for goats when there is a
transfer of ownership. This form must accompany the animal
to its new location, ie: from seller to buyer (including when sold
through the fair livestock auction, but not going to slaughter).
11. Nomore than two entries in any one class; if making two entries
in one class, each entry must be written on the entry form.
12. All goats must show in an individual class to show in the group
classes.
