8. All saleanimalsmust bemaintainedby exhibitor through closing
day of fair.
 9. The show order will be posted in barn prior to show.
10. Dairy animals must be 100% dairy breeding, all others must
show in beef market class. 
11. At weigh in, Beef animals must weigh at least 950 lbs. and not
more than 1500 lbs.; Dairy animals must weigh at least 1100 lbs.
and not more than 1600 lbs. Entries under minimum weight may
not show in the market class but may show in showmanship, if
entered; if underweight may not sell in the auction. Animals over
maximum weight may show in the market class (#205-#215) but
cannot be Champion or Reserve and will
NOT
be eligible for
Champion Classes (#225-#260). First place overweight entry
would be replaced by 2nd place entry in Championship Class.
Overweight entries may sell at auction at the specifiedmaximum
(not actual) weight.
12. Market animalswill beweigheduponarrival andwill beclassified:
light, medium, or heavy.
13. All Exhibitors must be present to handle his or her own animal
in the show ring and at auction. Please note dress code, page 8.
An exhibitor that is not present at the time of their class to enter
the ring and without the Superintendents prior knowledge will
not be allowed to show or sell their animal.
14. All animals must be exhibited in a market class to be eligible
to sell.
15. All entries in the Market Animal class will be sold at auction
sale and are for slaughter only.
16. All animals to be sold must be entered in Section 90, Beef
Market Animals.
17. Grand Champion & Reserve Grand Champion Dairy Market
Animals will be sold following the Grand Champion & Reserve
Grand Champion Beef Animals.
18. Any market entry having ear tags deemed not necessary for
exhibiting at the Shiawassee County Fair may have them
removed at the time of weigh-in, but after they have made the
qualifying weights.
19. Best Beef MarketAnimal fromown herd is an animal born from
a dam owned by the exhibitor or the exhibitor's immediate
family (see definition, page 8) and raised by the exhibitor as
their project.
Entries must be verified as Bred and Owned
animals by the exhibitor's club leader in addition to
entering them in class 205. The Verification Form can be
found on
page
13 or on the Fair's website.
20. "BestMarketAnimal fromOwnHerd" (class 205)must be shown
in another Market Class (class 210 or 215).
21. The Exhibitor'sAgreement is signed as a part of the entry form;
we no longer require separate paperwork.
SECTION 90 — BEEF MARKET CLASSES
PREMIUMS for class 205: - 5 Ribbons
Entries in this class must also enter and show in the appropriate
Market Animal class.
 205. Best Market Animal from own herd (must be previously
verified by club leader to enter and show - form on page 13)
PREMIUMS: There are no premiums for market classes.

SECTION 100 — BEEF SHOWMANSHIP
1.
Beef exhibitors who show an animal in a youth breeding and/or a
market class will be eligible to enter the Beef Showmanship class.
2. Exhibitors must fit and show only the animal that they have
entered. Using an animal for showmanship other than the
animal entered by the exhibitor will disqualify both exhibitors.
3. Exhibitor's age is as of January 1st of this year.
4. Enter only (1) one Beef Showmanship class.
5. No bulls will be allowed in the showmanship classes.
PREMIUMS for class 265 - 305: 5 Ribbons each class
265. Beef Showman, First Year Project, 11 yrs. & older
275. Beef Showman, Age 9-10 (Novice)
285. Beef Showman, Age 11-13 (Junior)
295. Beef Showman, Age 14-15 (Intermediate)
305. Beef Showman, Age 16 & older (Senior)
Judging will be based on the following:
1. Fitting of Animal
3. Showmanship of Owner
2. Training of Animal
4. Attitude of showman
RATE OF GAIN CONTEST
 1
. Entries must be weighed at the Shiawassee Co. Fair Registration
and Tagging in January to be entered in the Rate of Gain Contest.
If the animal was weighed it will be automatically entered.
 2. The animal's weight at check-in fair week will be recorded
again and the winner will be calculated from the two weights.
 3. Prizes will be awarded on Market Beef Animal show day.

u-fit-it contest
This contest offers youth an opportunity to showcase their
abilities to fit an animal for show.
1. Awards will be divided based on age in two divisions - Jr.
and Sr. divisions. Jr. Division youth 9-12 years of age and
Sr. Division - Youth 13-21 years of age (age determined
as of January 1, 2017).
2. Cattle will be clean and dry with no adhesives, oil or other
foreign substances when they enter the ring.
3. Chutes will be used and provided by the participants.
4. No helpers, clippers or blowers will be used.
5. No paint or coloring agents allowed.
6. Twenty minutes (20) will be allowed to fit and groom the
animal, followed by a display of the animals.
7. Directors/Sponsors for the contest: Junior Livestock
Association and the Shiawassee County Fair.
Any junior exhibitor awarded 1st prize in this contest must
compete in the senior division in following years, if they
choose to compete again or before turning 13. An exhibitor
is only allowed to win the senior division twice.
Contest will take place prior to showmanship at 8 a.m.
