Decorations must be in place before 9:00 am Saturday.
Animals, decorations, equipment and displays must remain in place
as posted in Poultry Barn. (See page 7 for release of exhibits rule.)
A barn meeting (all exhibitors) will be held opening Sunday, at 4 pm
in the Small Animal Arena.
BARN RULES
 1. All birds must be in the possession of the exhibitor by June 1st,
except Market Poultry.
 2.
All birdsmust beclean (freeof feces,mud, straw, shavings,
etc.) at check in or they will be sent home.
 3. The M.D.A. General Rules state: A bird shall not be handled
except by the exhibitor, attendant, fair vet, director or judge
after the bird is placed in an exhibition coop. (M.D.A. exception
- 2007: Poultrymay be handled by exhibitors of other species in
showmanshipsweepstakes competitions IFdiseaseprevention
measures are taken, i.e., hand washing and disinfecting
between species.
 4.
Sick poultry, including those under treatment, must not be
brought on the grounds.
 5.
Any poultry showing signs of disease or parasites
shall be removed from the grounds upon orders of the
superintendent.
 6. If an animal gets sick or dies, the barn Superintendent, General
Superintendent or the Fair Vet must be notified immediately.
Any vet costs will be the exhibitor's responsibility.
 7.
Carrying caSes may not be left in the barn
during fair week.
 8. Barn rules will be enforced.
EXHIBITOR RULES
1. All exhibitors are required to read and abide by the rules (pgs.6-11).
2.
IMPORTANT
-
All exhibitors (including independent exhibitors)
must turn in a poultry cage count by
June 23
. The form can be
found on page 15.
Members of 4-H Clubs and FFA Chapters
must turn cage counts in through their leaders,
independent
exhibitors to the Fair Office.
 3. Exhibitors are responsible for feeding andwatering their poultry
exhibits. All times are posted in the barn and will be enforced.
 4.
Waterers and feeders must be furnished by the exhibitor
andwiredor fastened to the cage.All feedandwater dishes
must be pre-approved by superintendent.
 5. Cages must be cleaned twice during the week, or as often as
necessary, before 9:00 am or after 10:00 pm.
6. Birds will not be judged unless the exhibitor or a designated
handler is present to remove the bird from the cage.
 7. Any Poultry entered in this Department can not be entered in
Open Class.
 8. ALL POULTRY, PIGEONS AND WATERFOWL MAY ENTER
ONE ENTRY PER CLASS AND FOUR ENTRIES PER
SECTION
for a total of 10 pens (entries).
 9. Proper attire is required of all exhibitors (see General Rules).
No sandals, flip-flops, crocs, etc. will be allowed in the show
ring or the sale ring.
10. All Showmanship Classes must be pre-entered.
11. No birds allowed on the grounds except exhibits entered for
premiums. Exhibitors not complying with this rule will be asked
to leave and forfeit any and all premiums.
12. All Poultry exhibited must originate from a certified pullorum free
flock or be tested pullorum free. (Pigeons & waterfowl exempt.)
Proof must be presented at check in.
13. No changes inDepartment and/or Sections. Noentry adjustments
will be accepted after check-in closes on Saturday at 6:00 pm.

4. Youth Poultry exhibitors who show in a youth breeding and/or
market class are eligible to enter Poultry Showmanship. They must
use the animal that they entered in the market or breeding class.
15. All market birds must be owned by the exhibitor.
16. Exhibitors selling a market project are responsible to check-in,
weigh-in, care for animal and be present for sale of animal.
NOTE: Any class in this department with an * in front of it requires
a class fee of $1.00. Please enclose this total with your entry form.
SECTION 10 — CLOVERBUDS - POULTRY
PREMIUMS: Ribbons
1.
**NEW**
Cloverbuds must bring an animal to show and submit
a cage count request, pg. 15, to reserve a cage.
2. This department is open to youth 5-8 yrs. (Age as of Jan. 1)
3. All exhibitors will receive participation ribbons.
4. Only one bird entry per exhibitor.
5. Birds in Condition class will demonstrate meat quality, feather
condition, and cleanliness of the animal.
6. Cloverbuds handling an animal shall have a parent or guardian
in attendance at all times.

SECTION 30 — EDUCATIONAL EXHIBIT (Related to project)
Poultry, Waterfowl and Game Birds
Objective: Exhibitor will gain knowledge of poultry, waterfowl and
game birds through information research and project preparation.

RULES -
Rabbits/Cavies/Poultry shouldbeexhibitedwithanoriginal
costume. The judge will briefly interview each contestant about the
animal, costume, etc. The costume will be judged on originality and
overall appearance.
