GRAND CHAMPION
SHOWMANSHIP Sweepstakes
Thursday, August 9, 7:30 pm
Premiums: Trophies - provided by the Junior LivestockAssociation.
RULES
1. Senior Champion Showmen (16 and over) from each of the
following departments must enter this contest: Beef, Dairy,
Goat, Horse, Sheep, and Swine.
2. Intermediate Champion Showmen (14-15) from each of the
following departments must enter this contest: Beef, Dairy,
Goat, Horse, Sheep, and Swine.
3. Each contestant will show each species in a round robin
competition.
4. Each contestant will be judged on their ability to handle and
present the animals and the contestant’s ability to follow the
judge's instructions.
5. Winners of the Senior Sweepstakes are ineligible to compete
in the Senior Sweepstakes Contest in future years.
6. Winners of the Intermediate Sweepstakes are ineligible to
compete in the Intermediate Sweepstakes Contest in future years.
7. Contestants will be evaluated by representative judges of
each species on the common scoring chart.

AWARD PRESENTATION ON SATURDAY NIGHT

Objective: Clubmemberswill work together toplanand implement aschedule
for animal care and exhibit maintenance so as to present the cleanest, most
attractive exhibits possible throughout Fair week.
Premiums offered in all classes are on a group basis.

RULES
1.
Age guidelines for participation in Educational classes (Herdsmanship)
are detailed on page 6.
2.
All Tack Boxes must be kept neatly in the area designated by the Barn
Superintendent.
3.
All surplus hay, straw, and grain to be kept in the area designated by
the Barn Superintendent.
4.
NO BARN DECORATIONS are to be removed prior to the posted
schedule in each specie barn. Groups will be disqualified from
Herdsmanship competition and all persons shall be penalized the
amount of their premiums (Premiums will be forfeited).
5.
All decorations must be in place, and judging will begin at 9:00 a.m.
Sunday, opening day of the fair.
6.
Judging will take place at staggered times each day, Sunday through
Saturday, between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
7.
Judging will be based on the following criteria:
A. Cleanliness of Aisle and StallS/Pens
60%
1. Bedding is adequate, dry and in place
2. Stalls/Pens are clean of manure
3. Aisles are swept/raked clean
4. Feed containers are removed after feeding
5. Water containers are clean and full
6. Decorations are well maintained
B. APPEARANCE OF ANIMALS
25%
1. Animals are clean and well groomed
2. Animals are securely tied/penned
C. ARRANGEMENT OF EXHIBIT
10%
1. Show/tack boxes are neat and in designated area
2. Feed and bedding are near and in designated area
D. STALL CARDS
5%
1. Readable from aisle
2. Neatly arranged, clean and complete
Michigan Pedal Pull
Saturday, August 11
Registration at 1:30 pm - Pull starts at 2:30 pm

FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY!
Test your "power" against your friends and neighbors! The
Michigan Pedal runs exactly like the "Big Boys", but with pedal
power. You sit on the pedal tractor with a transfer sled behind you
that transfers weight as you go down the track, trying for a full
pull! Girls and boys run separately. For pictures and additional
information be sure to check out Facebook and the website:

1. Age classes: 3-4 years, 5-6 years, 7-8 years, 9-10 years, 11-16
years and adult 17 and over.
2. All equipment provided.

1. Open to any youth under the age of 9 years.
2. Exhibitor must have an adult with them at all times when
handling the animal they choose to exhibit.
3. Animal exhibited MUST be borrowed from the Dairy Barns.
4. NO PRE-REGISTRATION. Enter the day of the contest.
Little People's LAMB Show
Wednesday, August 8, 4:30 pm - Main Arena
Premium: Ribbons
1. Open to any youth under 9 years of age.
2. Youth must have a parent in attendance at all times when
handling the animal.
3. Animal to be provided by the Sheep Department.
4. NO PRE-REGISTRATION. Enter the day of the contest.
Little People's PIG Show
Wednesday, August 8, 4 pm - Main Arena
Premium: Ribbons
1. Open to any youth under 9 years of age.
2. Youth must have a parent in attendance at all times when
handling the animal.
3. Animal to be provided by the Swine Department.
