10. Exhibitor’s age is determined as of January 1 of current year.
**NOTE:
Project horse's age is as of Dec. 31 of the current year.
11. Stallions can only be shown during the calendar year in which
they were foaled.
12. The Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday shows will
start promptly at 9 am. The Tuesday show will start promptly
at 8 am.
13. If any exhibitor refuses to leave their horse on exhibit at the fair
grounds during the week of fair, the exhibitor will automatically
be penalized the amount of their premiums.
14. Riders are categorized by age and ability:
A. Cloverbuds are ages 5-8 regardless of their ability. Ages
5-6 must show in lead-line. Ages 7-8 may choose between
lead-line, walk only, or walk-trot.
B. Walk-Trot is for ages 9-21. They are not able to safely
canter/lope their horse or pony.
1.) High-Point &ReserveHigh-Point will be awarded. They
are not eligible to compete in the English or Western
Championships, or theGrand&ReserveChampionclasses.
2.) They are eligible to enter ONLY classes designated as
Walk-Trot**,DrivingandHalter andFittingandShowing.
They areNOTeligible for anyChampionships or Grand
andReserveclasses (exceptGrandandReserveHalter
and Grand and Reserve Fitting and Showing).
C. Novice is for ages 9-21. They can walk, trot and canter at
a beginner's level.
1.) Novice riders are ONLY eligible to enter classes
designated as Novice, Driving, Halter. They are not
eligible for English and/or Western Championships or
GrandandReserveclasses (exceptGrandandReserve
Halter and Grand and Reserve Fitting and Showing).
2.) High-Point &ReserveHigh-Point will be awarded. They
are not eligible to compete in the English or Western
Championships or the Grand & Reserve Champion classes.
3.) Riders can compete in the Novice section for two (2)
years only, regardless of change of horse or pony. If a
novice rider is High Point or Reserve High Point, they
are ineligible to compete as a novice again and must
move into their age group.
D. Age groups will be 9-11, 12-13, 14-15, 16-17, 18-21.
E. "Physically Challenged Equestrian" refers to youth, ages
5-26, who strive to excel in equestrian endeavors in spite
of difficulties or obstacles. Exhibitors must have been
determined by their local school district to be eligible for
services directly related to a physical disability. Classes to
be conducted at judge's discretion, according to the abilities
of the exhibitors in each class.
F. The superintendent has the authority to change exhibitor's
class level at any time if deemed appropriate.
15. To be eligible for Showmanship Sweepstakes class, exhibitors
must keep their horse on exhibit the week of the fair.
16. Horse exhibitors must all show in Showmanship. To show in
Sweepstakes Showmanship, they must also enter and show
in another class that is published in the Exhibitor's Guide (i.e.
does not include gymkhana classes).
17. All Showmanship (Fitting and Showing) animals must be pre-
entered to show.
18. The Gymkhana (Speed &Action) show will be held on Friday of
fair week at 4:00 p.m. in the horse arena.

horses must be entered on the Fair entry form by the entry
deadline, see Section 45.
Horses not entered will not show.
Choice of specific classes (only) to be made Friday morning
at the announcer's stand.

Released:
Animals, decorations, tack, equipment, and
displays must remain in place until time as posted in the
Horse Barn.
(See page 7 for release of exhibits rules.)
All livestock trailers left on the fairgrounds
must be parked in the designated area below the
hill, south of the livestock area.
EXHIBIT REGULATIONS
 1. All exhibitors are required to read and abide by the rules on
pages 6-11.
 2. All eqine exhibits are required to show proof of a negative
Coggins test within the past (12) twelve months, except for
nursing mares and foals under 6 mo. of age.
 3. Exhibitswill be stalled under the direction of the superintendent.
A. Cloverbud and P.E.P. (Challenged) exhibitors may arrange
touseanother youthexhibitor's horse that is already stabled
at the fair. They may show from the trailer if they bring
their own horse.
**NOTE:
Any other stabling arrangement
must be set up with a Superintendent and requested on
the official form.
B. All Cloverbud and P.E.P. classes will be held on Sunday of
fair week. They MUSTwear approved safety helmets for all
classes. A parent or guardian must be with the Cloverbud
and P.E.P. exhibitors and his/her horse
at all times.
 4. Horses are not permitted in non-designated areas.
 5. Horses are to be exercised in designated areas only, and must
be out of their stall for at least one (1) hour daily.
 6. Aset of BarnRules will be posted.All exhibitors will be expected
to abide by these Barn Rules. Premiums will be withheld if
stalls are not kept clean. Watering of animals must be done
individually by pail. Animals are not to be out of the barn after
6:00 pm unless otherwise authorized.
 7. Horses are not to be ridden in the barn and should be mounted
outside of barn, ridden at a walk to and from show arena and
exercise areas. No trotting or cantering between barn and
announcers booth.
A. Bridles are required when riding your horse.
B. No riding horses double at any time.
 8. No horses to leave the Fairgrounds during Fair week without
written consent of the superintendent. Due to safety and space
limitations, stalled horses may be exchanged during the week
to accommodate the needs of exhibitors with multiple horses.
NOTE:
Exchanges of horses to take place during fair weekmust
be approved by the Superintendents, at regular check-in times
Saturday or Sunday, on the official request forms, available
from the Supts. Exhibitors with a stall must maintain a horse
in that stall until 6:00 a.m. on Sunday unless excused by the
Superintendent for the State 4-H Horse Show.
 9. Exhibitors may exhibit up to three (3) Equine projects, but
may enter only one yearling, one donkey or mule, one regular
riding horse, and/or one snaffle bit horse. One stall is allowed
per exhibitor. Gymkhana horses are not included in the limit
of three as they are not considered for High-Point Awards,
however they must be entered on the Fair entry form by the
entry deadline to compete - see: SECTION 45 - GYMKHANA
HORSES.
