posted in the Dog Barn. (See page 7 for release of exhibits rule.)
DOG EXHIBIT RULES & REGULATIONS
 1. All exhibitors are required to read and abide by the rules
on pages 6-11.
 2. Dog exhibit area will be supervised at all times.
 3. Dogs will be exercised in designated areas only.
 4. Dogs are not to be exercised in the carnival or midway area.
 5. For safety reasons, dogs must be attached to exhibit bench at
all times when not on leash, and dogs must be exercised on
leash, NOT bench chains.
 6. Members must have trained the dog being shown at the fair
themselves. When a dog is being handled by siblings, one child
should train and show in showmanship, the sibling would then
train and show in obedience.
 7. All dogs must be on display the entire week of the fair unless
excused by the superintendent. (Copy of written consent on
file with the fair office)
 8. Members are allowed to show multiple dogs, but no more than
two dogs in any one class. A member may show two dogs in
one obedience class. Another 4-H dog club member may stand
in for the handler on the sit and down exercise. A dog may be
shown one time in any one standard obedience class with the
exception of Cloverbuds.
 9. Eachhandlermustshowinatleasttwoclasses,oneofwhichmust
be an obedience class (105-335) other than Rally Obedience.
To enter agility, the dog must be shown in showmanship and/
or obedience. Showmanship must be pre-entered.
10. All dogs must be healthy and disease free. Any dogs showing
signs of disease or sickness will be excused from the grounds.

11.
ALL DOGS MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING HEALTH
REQUIREMENTS, WHICHARE TO BE DOCUMENTED ON THE
OFFICIAL FORM DESIGNED BY THE DOG DEVELOPMENTAL
COMMITTEEANDSIGNEDBYTHEOWNER'SVETERINARIAN:
a)All vaccines must be purchased from, and administered by,
a licensed veterinarian.
b)Dogs must be current on vaccines for Rabies, DHLPP, and
Bordatella (Kennel Cough) which must be current within
6 months of the fair.
c) Proof of a negative fecal check for internal parasites dated
after July 1st (of current year). Dogs must be free of fleas
and ticks upon check-in. Any dog showing signs of fleas will
be removed from the grounds and not allowed to show.
d)Proof of a negative heartworm check after March 1st (of
current year), and currently on a preventative program, or on
a preventative year round program documented and signed
by a veterinarian.
e)Proof must be provided to the superintendent at check-in
Friday night;
no dogs will be allowed on the grounds
without the completed paperwork on the official form.
12. Independent exhibitors must provide their own exhibit pen
with a rope to provide safety for spectators. No vicious or
unmanageable dogs allowed.
13. Showcompetition follows theAKCstandards, whereapplicable.
14. All classes can be subdivided individually by age if necessary,
dependingon thenumber of entries. Noclasses tobecombined.
15. A jump height card is required for Agility and Rally-O; Supts.
will measure dogs at check-in. Jump heights are as follows:
1) High Jump & Bar Jump - equals the dog's shoulder height.
2) Broad Jump - two times the dog’s shoulder height.
16. Exhibitor's age is as of January 1 of the current year.
17. All dogs will be on exhibit Monday through Saturday fair
week, 12:00 noon until 10:00 p.m. for 3 full days or 6 half
days (coordinated by club leaders). Due to space limitations,
members with multiple dogs may only bench one dog at a time
and may fulfill only one dog’s time requirements. HALF DAY
BENCH TIMES are recommended to avoid stress for the dog
and youth. Dogs will be benched with only one dog per bench.
18. Exhibitors showing other species onSundaymust present signed
documentation (from the supt. of the other species) to the Dog
Superintendent at Friday dog check-in to verify where they are
showing on Sunday. The exhibitors' classes will then be adjusted
in order when possible; exhibitors and their dogs will be released
when their classes are completed.

OPEN DOG EXHIBIT RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. All exhibitors are required to read and abide by the rules on pgs. 6-11.
2. Exhibitors must meet the Shiawassee County residency
requirements (see page 6).
3. Exhibitor age to be 19 or older.
4. Dogs must be entered on Fair entry form by entry deadline.
5. Exhibitors must provide health records at check-in (Friday night,
see above); see Youth Dogs for health requirements.
6. Dogs must be leashed or crated at all times.
7. Dogs may be shown once in a class.
8. Dogs shown only in Open classes will not be benched.
9. Dogs to be exercised in designated areas only, not in the
carnival or midway areas.
10. Unaltered dogs may show in any class with the exception of a
female dog in heat, which will not be allowed on the grounds.
No vicious or unmanageable dogs permitted.
11. Exhibitors entering Agility (Section 20) must have experience on
the equipment and have trained dogs for the class.
